How the Recruitment Process Works

Every applicant goes through a clear, eight-step process. While details differ by role and state, you can expect the following:

1. Application

Submit your application and receive confirmation.

2. Application review

Our Recruitment Consultants assess your skills and may invite you to complete an online

3. Online assessment

Tests literacy, numeracy, and role suitability.

4. Telephone interview

A short conversation about your background, support experience, and motivation.

5. Group interview

A behavioural interview with other candidates to share knowledge and learn more about ONCALL.

6. Reference and screening check

This stage involves several important requirements:

Professional referees – Provide two referees who have directly supervised your work, with contact details.

  • Background checks – May include:

  • NDIS Worker Check (all roles)

  • Blue Card in Queensland

  • Carers Register in Victoria

  • Annual National Police Check

  • Qualifications and training – Copies of relevant certificates such as First Aid, CPR, Manual Handling, and Medication Administration.

  • Health requirements – Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations and booster

  • Training pathways – If you’re missing any of the above, we can support you with courses through JobReady Plus or other accredited training providers.

7. Candidate Assessment Briefing (CAB) Day

Online or in person, this covers policies, procedures, and expectations for new staff.

8. Commence employment

Once complete, you join our team. Ongoing support and reminders to update availability are provided.
