Accessible footy training program – Footy Skills Lab

Footy Skills Lab is a free platform powered by Google AI, which helps you improve your footy skills through activities in ball-handling, decision-making and kicking across three levels of difficulty.

This great initiative by the AFL and Google has been designed to bring accessible footy to all people no matter their: age, ability, gender, location, culture or socioeconomic status.

All you need is a mobile phone, a footy and some space.
When an activity is selected, a short video will play. The video features AFLW stars including Carlton’s Madison Prespaskis, Melbourne’s Tayla Harris and Richmond’s Akec Makur Chuot demonstrating and providing some tips on how to complete the activity. Wheelchair AFL athlete Joanna Argaet also adds an alternative Wheelchair AFL movement to perform.
You will then have the opportunity to try the activity for yourself! Google’s AI is able to track a football as you perform the movement through your phone’s camera. It will track and rate your
performance, presenting a scorecard that you can share with your friends and family!
